Portugal Travel Guide - Travel to Portugal

Travel to Portugal - Why visit Portugal? Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic, has much to offer travelers - the Algarve’s sunny beaches, vibrant fishing villages, fine golf resorts, isolated wild mountains, medieval towns, the vines of the Douro and a cosmopolitan, modern capital. Travelers will find that the best way to appreciate Portugal is by sitting at a street cafe and sipping an espresso or glass of port while enjoying the scene. The best times to visit Portugal are May-June and late September-October, when the weather isn’t too hot for touring (though it can be a bit cool for lying on the beach). Days will be warm with very little rain, and nights definitely require a sweater.

Almost all major international airlines fly to Portugal, besides the national carrier TAP (Air Portugal). And there are three international airports in the mainland: Lisbon/Portela, near Loures; Porto/Pedras Rubras/Sá Carneiro, in Maia; and Faro, in the Algarve.
