Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (airport code: ATH) is a major hub in the Aegean, Balkan and East Mediterranean regions. The airport is situated about 27 km east of Athens city center, near the suburb of Spata. The airport has excellent public transit connections to the city. The airport is also served by six public bus routes, which connect to destinations in the greater area of Athens and Piraeus, buses running 24 hours a day.
