Africa - Cheap Flights to Africa

Fly to Africa -  If you are planning a trip to Africa, one of the first things you should look into is your international flights to Africa.

Airfares to Africa can be very expensive, especially the direct international flights to Africa from the USA. And there’s no such thing as a last minute airfare to Africa from the USA, because there aren’t too many airlines servicing this continent, and flights fill up at least a month in advance. From the USA, a few non-stop flights to Africa include: Delta Airlines and South African Airways fly direct to South Africa from New York, Washington DC and Atlanta (some via Dakar, Senegal). Delta also recently launched direct service from New York to Accra (Ghana) and Atlanta to Lagos (Nigeria). EgyptAir flies direct to Cairo from New York. Royal Air Moroc flies direct to Casablanca from New York. Ethiopian Airlines fly direct from Washington DC to Addis Ababa four times a week.

Flights to Africa via Europe usually much cheaper than direct flights to Africa from the USA. Outside the peak travel times to Europe (e.g. summer) you might be able to get a good deal to London or Paris and book a fare from there to Africa. But don’t book the USA to Europe portion until you get confirmed on the Europe to Africa portion first. Flying to Africa via Europe can sometimes save a lot. However, since new non-stop flights to Africa have recently been added, and Europe is much more expensive than it used to be, try getting a direct quote first, then see if you can do better. Airline consolidators can also be used for discounted airfares. If you have additional travel time, check to see how your total fare quote to Africa compares with a round-the-world airfare. Don’t forget to add in the extra costs of additional visas, departure taxes, ground transportation, etc. for all those places outside of Africa.

Bear in mind that many African countries only offer a few international flights each day, or in some cases, each week. While it isn’t hard to reach South Africa or Egypt, getting to Malawi or Togo can be quite a challenge.

Booking your international flights to Africa will be cheaper if you do a little bit of extra research with our cheap airfare comparison tool above. Go grab your best international flight deal to Africa.
