Egypt Travel Guide - Travel to Egypt
Travel to Egypt - Why visit Egypt? Nearly everyone will enjoy seeing the sights of Egypt. The chief attractions of Egypt are the pyramids and the Sphinx at Giza, the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens near Luxor, the Egyptian Antiquities Museum, ancient temples, Nile cruises, Coptic churches, St. Catherine’s monastery, desert culture and scuba diving on the Red Sea.
When to visit Egypt? Egypt basically has two seasons: a hot season of April-October and a relatively cool season of November-March (by far the better touring season). If you want to visit Egypt off-season, October is a good month when prices and tourist crowds are low. During the other off-season months, it is simply too hot to be enjoyable.
International Flights to Egypt
Egypt is served by several international airports. The main airport for international flights to/from Egypt is Cairo International Airport (CAI), which is the hub of the national airline Egypt Air. From Cairo, there are domestic flights to Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel, Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
Lodging in Egypt
Egypt has a full range of lodging options, from basic backpacker hostels to deluxe, world-class resorts and hotels. Be aware that if you stay near the pyramids in Giza or near the airport, you’ll be isolated from the shopping and activities of central Cairo.
