Brazil Travel Guide - Travel to Brazil

Travel to Brazil - Why visit Brazil? Brazil, officially the Federative Republic of Brazil, is large and varied. Everyone will love something about it. Beside the thousands of miles of clean, beautiful and full of nature beaches, there areĀ  more remarkable attractions for travelers to explore: the traditional Afro-Brazilian culture of Salvador, the colonial towns of Ouro Preto, Sao Luis, Paratyand Olinda or the wetlands of the Pantanal, one of the best places to see wildlife in South America. Rio de Janiero might be the initial attraction of Brazil, but the country’s unexplored corners and breadth of attractions will make travelers want to return.

When to visit Brazil? Most of Brazil can be visited comfortably throughout the year. March-November is the driest and best time to visit the south and southeastern regions, including Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The Amazon region is always hot and humid, but the best time to see it is July-August, when it’s neither the peak of the rainy season nor the time when the river is lowest. The northeast is quite warm throughout the year, though the coastal regions see frequent rainfall April-June.

International Flights to Brazil

Sao Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) is the largest international airport in Brazil with flight connections to most of the capital cities in South America and major cities in the USA. The second largest airport is Rio de Janeiro-Galeao International Airport (GIG). The cheapest international airfares to Brazil are usually from February (after Carnaval) to May and from August to November.

Lodging in Brazil

Lodging in Brazil ranges from great 5-star properties to those far below standard. Hotels are plentiful in just about all areas of Brazil and can range from luxury beach resorts to very modest and inexpensive choices. For local atmosphere, a good quality pousada (the local equivalent of a French auberge or a British boarding house) is often a good choice. Along the Amazon, try to book a jungle lodge.
